Covini

Covini Engineering is a handcrafted automobile company dedicated to the production of high performance cars. The company was founded by the engineer Ferruccio Covini in 1978.

The first realization was the Covini T44, a four-wheel drive car with an original flat, symmetrical and modular panel bodywork equipped with the first diesel engine conceived already in the turbocompressor design of the Vento Motori di Cento (FE). The project and the patent were purchased by the same VM Motors. [1]

In 1981 Covini Engineering presented at the Geneva Motor Show the B24 turbocharger, a 2400 cm³ diesel VM central diesel engine with innovative over-supplying system with air / water heat exchanger, the first road diesel to exceed 200 km / h. ] The car conceived for advertising and scientific purposes, to experiment with new technologies, also has a small commercial success.

In 1988 the Covini T40 turboboost was presented; Conceived for the same purposes as the B24, but with multi-fuel diesel engines up to 4 liters of VM engines. In 1998, a new experimental car with the brand new common rail diesel engines of the VM engines was presented at the Turin car salon; Is the first diesel road vehicle to exceed 300 km / h.

Following the project launches in 2003 with the first press releases [2], the Covini C6W [3] was presented in 2008, featuring six wheels with two front axles, such as the car’s Tyrrell.
